Nine characters have been confirmed to return. They are Mario, Samus, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Fox, Bowser and Pit.
Mario, judging from gameplay videos, unfortunately still has his FLUDD attack so hopefully this time
around it'll be more useful.
Samus is designed more to look like she did in Other M, which might explain the slimmer armour.
Donkey Kong's face kind of reminds me of a Muppet. Well, maybe a Moopet. Hehe.
Pit's going to have moves taken form Kid Icarus Rising.
Bowser is the most changed so far. Standing upright, looking more in lines with the Mario games than
stylized in Brawl, he also seems to have better aerial moves and a killer dropkick.
The three newcomers to Smash 4 are as follows. The boy Villager from the Animal Crossing games, the Wii
Fit Trainer from the Wii Fit games, and Mega Man, one of the most legendary video game character in
history up to the point when Inafune quit Capcom.
Well, I did say I wanted to be surprised, and I was certainly surprised by Village and Trainer. Is it me
or does Mega Man's moveset seem to borrow from Super Smash Flash 2?
So far, the only difference we've seen between the Wii U version and the 3DS version is that there will
be some different stages and the 3DS version's characters will have an outline around them so they better
show up on the screen. As much as Brawl was a graphical leap over Melee, the Wii U version looks even
better than Brawl.
As far as stages go, the 3DS version will have ones based on handheld games, such as Nintendogs and
Phantom Hourglass, while the Wii U one will have ones based on console games, such as Skyward Sword.
Battlefield and Final Destination look to have returned as well, looking better than ever. Also, there's
a Mega Man stage, Dr. Wily's Castle complete with a Yellow Devil cameo it seems.
Admittingly I was kind of hoping to see more things gameplay wise, but I guess it's way too early for
something like that.
